Participants are expected to be dressed for dance and be on time for their scheduled class. Participants should arrive at scheduled class time to allow for proper stretching and warm up. The goal of a proper warm up is to avoid potential injury. Participants arriving more than fifteen minutes late are encouraged to make up the class at another time. In addition, the following expectations and rules apply:
- Required dance attire and appropriate shoes need to be worn in class.
- Ballet classes require hair to be in a secured bun. Other classes require hair to be in a pony tail or secured away from face for shorter hair styles.
- All Ballet slippers need to have elastic sewn not tied. New Pointe shoes need to be approved by Instructor prior to sewing ribbons. Dancers on Pointe will not be allowed to participate if ribbons are not sewn completely.
- No hanging on the ballet barres.
- Gum chewing is not allowed during class. No food or drinks other than water inside the studio.
- No jewelry (including watches) to be worn in class.
Dress Code
● Ballet and Ballet Combo Classes
Girls: Creative movement, pre ballet, combo and ballet level 1 classes may wear pink or black leotards with pink tights, pink ballet slippers and jazz or tap shoes for combo classes. Skirts are ok for younger dancers.
Boys (all levels): white shirt, black dance pants or shorts and black ballet shoes.
● Jazz, Jazz Combo, Lyrical, Modern/Contemporary Classes
Leotard or fitted dance top of dancer’s choice. Black jazz pants, Capri style pants or dance shorts and black jazz shoes. Lyrical and Modern classes wears jazz shoes, lyrical sandals or dance paws. Check with your instructor.
● Tap Classes
Girls: Black tap shoes. Prefer leather slip on or lace up style shoes. No character style high heeled tap shoes. Patent leather shoes are acceptable for combo classes and tap 1 only. Any fitted shirt, black jazz pants or Capri style dance pants. Black shorts or dance skirts are acceptable. No jeans.
Boys: Black tap shoes. Prefer leather tap shoes. Any shirt, jazz pants or loose fitted pants. No jeans.
● Hip Hop Classes
Loose clothing that will not restrict movement. T-shirt with jazz pants, tear away pants or shorts are acceptable. Jeans are acceptable in hip hop class only. Shoes should be hip hop sneakers or clean tennis shoes.
Annual Dance Recital/Additional Fees Along with monthly tuition, there are several fees involved in participating in our annual recital.
The next recital will be June 24th and 25th, 2011. Participation is not mandatory, but strongly encouraged. Parents or adult participants can expect a costume expense due February 3rd , 2010. Costume fees range between $50 and $80 per costume. Recital fees are due May 5th , 2010. Recital fees range from $65-$80 per participant. Parents may choose to pay Recital Fee in three installments between April and June. Recital fees are used to cover theater rental, t-shirts, and DVDs of the performance for all participants. Costume and recital fees are nonrefundable.
